Scouts At Scout Meeting

We kicked off our first scout meeting at Fieldstone Middle School Friday the 13th this January! It began with smiles and finished with laughter. Scout Meetings will be at Fieldstone Middle School in the cafeteria or the art classroom in the back of the cafeteria from 3:15 to 4:15 pm. We reviewed how to stay warm when camping and hiking teaching the scouts about various ways the body looses heat through Evaporation, Radiation, Conduction and Convection. The Scouts learned how to layer clothing during the day and how to prep and stage their sleeping gear to stay warm at night. This is all not only for fun as being comfortable on outdoor adventures makes them more enjoyable but also for safety to avoid hazards such as hypothermia or frostbite which can be harmful and fatal in a survival situation. In a recent snow storm passengers were stranded in their cars trapped by the snow. Knowing how to keep safe in these adverse conditions can save a life. Be Prepared. Also Troop Positions were established for the crossover into Troop 33!
