What to Bring Camping & Hiking

What to Bring Checklists

The Scout Motto is Be Prepared

Parents and Scouts be sure to use these checklists as a resource to learn what to bring on different events. Please ask your Scoutmaster if you have any questions.

  • Be Prepared. Knowing what to bring camping is important for fun and for safety! Here is a basic checklist of items to bring on an overnight campout. This list is for “car camping” arriving at the campsite by car. Please see the Backpacking Checklist for what to bring hiking into campsite which would be more minimal and lighter weight. • Be Prepared. Hiking into a campsite known as Back Packing is way different than car camping. Your gear is lighter weight more minimal and should be light enough and comfortable to carry it all on your back. (Soon to come Back Packing Checklist)

  • Be Prepared. Always have on you everyday and especially on any scout event a proper first aid kit which may include a simple boo boo kit or even a trauma kit. (First Aid Kit Checklist coming Soon)

  • Be Prepared. Local camping stores such as Campmore, REI, Dick’s and Ramsey Outdoor are all in Bergen County where you can buy camping gear. Soon to come here will be a list of Amazon Links as well.
